The year 2025 closed in a simple, yet meaningful way. Not with a grand party or a noisy countdown, but with seven Friday mornings filled with sweat, laughter, and togetherness.
For seven consecutive weeks, starting on November 14, 2025 and ending on the seventh Friday, December 26, 2025, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM Kuwait time, Indonesians living abroad gathered on the same field every Friday, from sunrise until the clock neared eleven. With the presence of the Diaspora Ambassador Cup 2025 Football League, the year was beautifully concluded and a lively Food Bazaar added warmth to the event, easing the longing for dishes from home.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Diaspora Forum in Kuwait, Mr. Billman Marpaung, in his remarks expressed his gratitude to the committee, the players, the referees, the sponsors, and all supporters who worked hard and helped make the event possible.
The Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Diaspora Ambassador Cup 2025 Football League, Mrs. Dewi Sulastri Busroni Anang, also expressed her thanks to the sponsors and supporting partners who contributed both morally and materially. To all players, she encouraged everyone to uphold sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect. Winning and losing are part of the game — but brotherhood and togetherness are the true goals of this league.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Mrs. Lena Maryana, officially opened the event on Friday morning. In her remarks, she said:
“I would like to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to all committees and diaspora communities who worked hard to organize this league. It is not easy to unite various elements of society with different backgrounds — yet through sports, especially football, we prove that togetherness and brotherhood can grow stronger and more meaningful for Indonesians in Kuwait.”
The Diaspora Ambassador Cup 2025 Football League felt special because it brought together seven outstanding teams ready to show their skills, strategies, and sportsmanship. Each team came with its own character and strengths, yet all were united by one purpose: to strengthen friendship and build togetherness through sports.
The seven teams were: NUSRA (Nusra Tenggara), MU (Mangaf United), PPK (Paguyuban Pasundan Kuwait), BIMA (Bali Mangaf), Garangan, PIP, and KKS (Kerukunan Keluarga Sulawesi).
Amid busy work schedules and routines, Fridays became a pause, filled with football. For many Indonesians, football is not just a game, but a language of brotherhood.
The first week always feels both awkward and full of hope. Familiar and new faces greet each other. Jerseys are worn proudly, shoes are tied tightly, and slowly the field comes to life. The first whistle marks not only the beginning of the match but the beginning of the seven-week journey toward the end of the year.
Each Friday had its own story. By the second and third weeks, the rhythm began to form. Teamwork grew, strategies were built, and healthy rivalries emerged yet always ended with laughter and handshakes. On the field, everyone was equal.
Mornings were filled with cheers and jokes. From the sidelines came shouts of encouragement, bursts of laughter, children running together, and mothers sharing food, stories, and warmth turning the field into more than just a place to play.
By the fourth and fifth weeks, fatigue began to show but everyone still came. Because this league was not only about physical endurance, but about commitment and presence for one another.
The sixth week became a time of reflection. Every pass felt more meaningful, every minute more precious. Conversations shifted toward the year that was ending and the hopes for the new one.
Then came the seventh Friday December 26, 2025. The atmosphere felt different spirited, yet emotional. Everyone knew this was not just the final match, but the closing chapter of a journey.
The matches were played with full sportsmanship. Goals were celebrated, mistakes laughed off, and every effort appreciated. When the final whistle blew, the journey of seven Fridays came to an end.
The league concluded with pride. After competitive and fair matches, four top teams emerged:
🥇 1st Place — NUSRA
🥈 2nd Place — MU
🥉 3rd Place — PPK
🏅 4th Place — BIMA
The closing ceremony was led by Ambassador Lena Maryana. Everyone gathered at the center of the field — tired, yet smiling. There were no real winners or losers — only gratitude.
In that moment, Ambassador Lena said:
“Thank you to everyone who came, who played, who supported, and who kept our togetherness alive. Thank you for making these seven Fridays more than just match schedules — but cherished memories for Indonesians in Kuwait.”
The organizing chair, Mrs. Dewi Sulastri Busroni Anang, added:
“Our special thanks go to everyone for the cooperation, togetherness, and positive spirit that have grown throughout this league. Without all of you, this event would not have been possible.”
Seven weeks. Seven Friday mornings. Until eleven o’clock.
That is how Indonesians abroad closed the year — with brotherhood, sportsmanship, and the belief that as long as togetherness is preserved, Indonesia will always feel close, no matter the distance.
See you in 2026!
