The New Year Festival 2026, organized by the Indonesian community in Kuwait supported by Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia-Kuwait City was held in a festive, smooth, and meaningful atmosphere. On Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the celebration was filled with the lively rhythms of dangdut and live music, bringing laughter, nostalgia, and a sense of home to Indonesians living far from their homeland.
The venue was filled with members of the Indonesian diaspora who gathered to welcome the new year with a spirit of unity and solidarity.
The event was officially opened by Her Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kuwait, Ms. Lena Maryana. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation for the initiative and unity of the Indonesian community in Kuwait, who not only celebrated the new year but also turned it into a moment of sharing and caring for those back home. Through activities like this, she said, we do not only celebrate the passing of time, but also strengthen brotherhood, preserve our national identity, and nurture compassion, both in Kuwait and in Indonesia. She encouraged everyone to begin the year with positivity, cooperation, and empathy. She also thanked all members of the organizing committee for their hard work in making the event a success, and expressed hope that all the kindness and effort would be rewarded by Allah.
As the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Sutikno Mustofa stated that the New Year Festival 2026 was more than just a year end celebration. It was a space to strengthen friendships, revive Indonesian cultural spirit, and grow social awareness among the Indonesian diaspora in Kuwait. Through arts, music, food bazaars, and humanitarian action, the community demonstrated that Indonesians abroad remain united, caring, and supportive of one another.
The atmosphere became even more vibrant with the Indonesian food bazaar, offering a wide variety of traditional dishes and favorite snacks. On the main stage, cultural performances, live music, and dangdut entertained the crowd throughout the day, creating a warm, joyful, and nostalgic ambiance.
The celebration felt even more alive with the upbeat sounds of dangdut music, inviting everyone to sing, dance, and enjoy the moment together. Through music and laughter, people connected beyond all differences, making the start of the new year full of joy and closeness.
Amid the festivities, a charity sale of gently used clothing was also held as a meaningful act of social care. All proceeds will be donated to support flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, regions that are currently in need of assistance and compassion.
The New Year Festival 2026 thus became more than just a celebration, it was a powerful reminder that even far from home, Indonesians remain deeply connected to their nation and to one another. Through music, togetherness, and generosity, a hope was planted that this spirit of kindness will continue to grow throughout 2026.
May every joy and good deed created today become blessings for us all.
Welcome 2026, may Allah guide and protect every step we take.
